Join Kate from Sewing With Kate for a Makers  Class in Sashiko Style Denim Mending at The Selvedge Society.

The workshop will teach how to repair (by hand) a hole or tear in your favourite denim garment. This is a Sashiko-style denim mending class. The focus is on visible mending.

There will be 2 techniques:
A. Patching/Over-top repair - Patching & Sashiko, using dotty pre-stencilled Sashiko fabric
B. Under patching - Patching & Sashiko, using water soluble stabiliser

Each student will receive a kit as part of the class but must bring one or two pieces to mend - denim ideally but not necessary.

Please note this isn’t a class where we fix hems or refashion items, it’s about visibly mending a hole or tear. We will use an iron too but no sewing machines will be used.

Each student should bring their own sewing scissors and pins or safety pins.

When: Sunday, June 6

Time: 10am-1pm

Cancellations will only be accepted up to 24hrs before the class takes place.
