10am-12 Midday
Hand Piecing is stitching components of a block together by hand.
Hand piecing uses a running stitch to sew the pieces together. When hand stitching, the first stitch is generally a back stitch, used to secure the seam and using a knot at the end of the thread. The last stitch in the seam is done the same way, then you can immediately add the adjoining piece or end the seam, with the seam not extending into the seam allowance.
A benefit of hand stitching is its portability. It’s a take anywhere project. It’s also a very meditative with the process of threading the needle, concentrating to make each stitch the same and to feel the thread as it pulls through the fabric layers.
